COMPETITION RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE 13 MARCH 2010
REGISTRATION: 8:00 AM, THE COMMONS
COMPETITION START: 9:00 AM
COUNTDOWN: Approx. 12:30 PM, DCC 308
COMPLETION: Approx. 2:30 PM
CONGRATULATIONS!
Your school’s MATHCOUNTS team (or
you as an individual) has advanced to the state finals to be held at
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute according to the above schedule.
Attendance at the state competition is mandatory unless prior
arrangements have been made (such as Hebrew Schools).
A team consists of 4 members, plus 1
alternate in the event that one team member cannot participate.
PLEASE NOTE: THE TEAM MEMBERS YOU REGISTER WITH ARE THE TEAM MEMBERS
YOU MUST BRING TO THE STATE COMPETITION. NO SUBSTITUTIONS WILL BE
ALLOWED. STUDENTS NOT REGISTERED WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE.
Due to limited space in the competition room and time for
preparation for any additional individuals, we must adhere to this
limit. (The SCHOOL HANDBOOK makes no provision for alternates.)
Included
is a map showing how to reach RPI, parking, and the competition
location. The written portion of the competition will be held in
The Commons, and the countdown will be held across the street in
Darrin Communications Center room 308. Although space is limited in
The Commons, there is ample room in room 308 for supporters.
Morning refreshments and a hero sandwich
lunch will be available for participants and friends (vegetarian
available). We are asking a voluntary donation of $5 per person to
help cover the cost of these items.
Again, RPI is offering a $1,000 scholarship
to the top male and top female at the state competition.
The top four individuals will comprise New
York’s team to the national competition in Disney World, Orlando,
FL. on May 6-9, 2010. The coach from the top team will serve as the
coach for the state team. Expenses for all participants (not
parents) in the national competition are covered by the
MATHCOUNTS Foundation.
We look forward to your team’s
participation. Good luck!
