Continuing Proficiency Competency
CPC, what does it mean?
Professional Engineers shall accrue 36 continuing
education credits over a three-year period to maintain
their license. Engineers can earn credits by attending
formal courses of study, lecturing, and writing
professional articles, books, or patents.
The intent of the
requirement is to keep practicing professionals up to
date with changes in technology, and to inspire sharing
experiences and education. Licensed professional
engineers and land surveyors work in a world of evolving
technology, increased consumer expectations and other
emerging issues. Practice in this changing environment
requires ongoing development of knowledge and skills. It
is critical that licensees remain current with changes
and developments in the profession to render quality
services and to ensure public protection.
